[ When the feed comes on, Tony is sitting at a chair. He obviously has the camera resting on a table in front of him. He looks lost in thought and is looking off to the top right of the camera in the middle distance, it looks like he's been thinking very hard. After a few moments he licks his lips slowly.]
So, it looks like that I'm not as prepared for everything as I think.
I've made mistakes here. But that's not really new, I've always been a bit of a mess so really that's a statement that shouldn't really surprise anyone, I've never really been perfect, my track record alone really shows that, and even all my character defaults...
[He runs his hand over his lower jaw. while he takes a breath, realising he was going off track.]
I haven't been taking this place seriously. And it nearly cost someone their life, because I wasn't fast enough. So what I'm trying to say here is that. Well, I have to try harder, this.
[He fidgets with his hands]
This isn't a holiday, or a resort, so tell me... What's the best way to take on the gym leaders around here?
[Tony's been trying to post this for days, there have been a few moments where he's started recording only to turn it off again. So he's feeling kind of proud he was able to be more him than his persona to the public for once.]

I thought you were sleeping?
[Thinking Steve was asleep was part of the reason he had managed to post the video in the first place. For the time being, he choses to ignore Steve telling him it wasn't his fault.]
ACTION FOREVER
Date: 2013-09-16 07:21 am (UTC)I was, but I woke up. Kind of the eventuality of sleeping. It was bound to happen eventually.
[His expression falters a little, realizing he left himself wide open for a jibe at his ice sleep, he really hopes Tony doesn't take the chance. It's been really hard to stay warm lately with the bloodloss issues.]

Date: 2013-09-16 05:09 am (UTC)First, there's the strategic way. All of the leaders seem to favor one specific type or another, and if that's your preference then you just need to figure out the types they're weak against.
Or you could use my special Lancer-approved method and just blast them right outta the water with brute force.
Date: 2013-09-16 05:10 am (UTC)...Yo, you do know nobody can die here, right?
[lancer, don't be so casual about the perversion of logic...]

[Tony just stares at him for a moment when he pipes up about how no one can die.]
. . .
why would I know that? How could I even know that?

Exploiting their weaknesses is a common strategy. So is using overleveled Pokemon.
[Though Hope's tone says he has other ways of challenging gym leaders.]

Date: 2013-09-16 05:20 am (UTC)[Tony doesn't know what it is, but the fact that Hope doesn't ask about Steve is kind of a relief to him.]

Date: 2013-09-16 05:48 am (UTC)Gym leaders are used to trainers exploiting their weaknesses when they can, and have prepared for it accordingly. They make good use of TM moves they have their Pokemon learn, and usually those are strong against the Pokemon you bring in to fight them easily.
They also have their own strategies. Morty turns to status effects, Whitney prefers Sing and Rollout with her Miltank, that sort of thing.

Date: 2013-09-16 05:23 am (UTC)Use their weaknesses against them. Every Gym Leader has a type, and every type has a weakness. [Or more than one.] Getting the battle over with quickly is the best strategy.
[Of course it involves overleveling but the basic premise is the same. Get in, get the job done, get out. No fuss no muss no tears...unless Whitney's involved.]
Date: 2013-09-16 06:40 am (UTC)It's the getting everyone ready for it that's probably going to be a problem.

Date: 2013-09-16 06:18 am (UTC)It seems a valuable lesson was learned. At least this individual is still alive, so there is no reason to grieve. Now is merely the time to look forward... as looking back too far will only cause you to trip over your feet.
text;
Date: 2013-09-16 06:51 am (UTC)Let me guess, you're either an author or some kind of poet.
And believe me, I'm not really one to look back. The future is the only horizon I keep my eye on.
[Tony choses to ignore being told not to grieve, because he knows very well that if he had jsut been to the gyms in the first place he could have flown there on Dummy and Steve would have not nearly been so bad.]

Date: 2013-09-16 06:31 am (UTC)Train hard- the Gym Leaders' pokémon get stronger the further into the region you get. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of both their pokémon and your own, and use what you can to your advantage.
Size is no match for a good type advantage. [ says the girl who is shorter than the majority of her team ]

Date: 2013-09-16 08:40 pm (UTC)Anyway, best way to take on the Gym Leaders varies by who you're going after. If you're fighting with a specific team you got to account for their strengths, weaknesses - shit you probably already know or have been told. Which one are you going to take on first?
[Voice]
Date: 2013-09-17 04:53 am (UTC)Well, I'm in Goldenrod, so it looks like Whitney. Which if I remember right, and I do, she's got normal types.
